Boat & Bikes

Many of you have inquiried for a boat to rent during your stay at Lillan. Now you can!

At the end of the Strandvägen, in the beginning of Gropshagsvägen, you’ll find this sweet little boat to go explore the nearby archipelago. Ask for keys preferably before you start your stay at Lillan ☀️

These excellent bikes can be found by Ruukin Sauna. They belong to Carfield chain so you can rent the bikes from one station and leave them to another. Handy, don’t you think? Also available in children sizes!

Wonderful way to explore Kimito Islands. Did you know you can take a bike to a ferry here for free?

And as you have a bike renting time, don’t miss Ruukin sauna, it’s wonderful food, sauna or ice cream that is so delicious words are not enough ❤ Or taste the great coffees Kyösti serves you. My favourite is Latte Macchiato, how about yours?

Ps. If you want to take your toddlers to a bike ride, you can! Just contact Ville Laitinen / NaturEffect and he’ll rent you this convertible 🙂 Or book directly from here.

Proud Member of Finnish Cottage Renters Union

Union for Finnish Cottage Renters has been set up. It serves both guests and owners of rental cottages.

The Union promotes high standards of cottage rental and works to improve knowledge and skills of both parties, as well as supporting its members in all cottage rental related issues.

As the ideology of the union sits more than well to the one of Lillan, it is now a member of that union as well.

Proudly promoting high standards of Cottage rental in Lillan ❤️

Sanna Pelliccioni’s painting in Lillan

img_3874-1
At the beginning, there was this quite a murky corner in the upstairs bedroom.

In the beginning of my ownership of Lillan I of course got checked the conduits of it. The chimney did not work well. The chimney sweeper came to help. He found out that  jackdaws had at some point made their nest in the chimney. Because the pipe is old and curvy, he could not get the nest out the easy way. He had to make a hole in the corner to get the chimneys clean. Thus, the grey spot after building the wall back.

Time went by and one day an artist stayed at Lillan during her display arrangements. I really do like her style and ideology behind her art. Even wrote a post of her joyful illustrations.

img_3875-1We became friends.

One day, she posted this picture on her Facebook wall. She had visited an old Italian cloister and there had been these centuries old paintings.

I came up with an idea – and Sanna was happy to play along.

The chimney wall of the Lillan upstairs bedroom got fixed and everything was ready for her to work her artistic magic there.

When I saw the first lines she had drawn there I knew I had made the right decision: this would be so perfect! So Lillan style. So much more than just a cover for a chimney corner.

All those amazing, vivid and yet fragile details. In perfect harmony with Lillan atmosphere.

Now, you can spend your time at Lillan in the shade of these wonderfully eloquent branches.

Or almost hear the water spatter at the fountain, with the bird just watching you, estimating if it would dare to take a bath even though you are there.

Thank you Sanna. You are such a great talent. I’m so proud to have this painting by you in Lillan.

Lillan has stayed on its place nearly 300 years. I expect it to stay there at least next 300 years, now with your art on its wall.

Lillan as Dollhouse and 3D

I just love modern age best parts. Here’s definitely one: now you can visit Lillan as you would be walking through it and even to take a dollhouse view to get a bigger picture.

(Click the pictures to go to the presentation ❤ )

You can stroll through the house, take a closer look to any point or just go with the stream from one picture to another.

By choosing to view dollhouse,

You can see through Lillan, rotate the view horizontally and vertically and then have a closer look where you wish. Just crab the picture and move it wherever you want to see!

Choose the bedroom you want to sleep in, check the views from the windows or convince your loved ones Lillan is the number one place to stay, by using this wonderful presentation.

Thank you Kristian from Valoomo Oy, this just totally hit the spot!

Why do I ask?

You book your stay at Lillan. All goes well. Then, all of a sudden, you get an email from me with abysmal list of questions. How many of you will be coming? Adults, children? Doubles, singles? Ages, genders? Your estimated time of arrival? Your other wishes or questions about your stay?

What is this? Am I just infinitely nosy? Nope. I’m asking all these questions to serve you better.

I re-organize the furniture, especially beds, always according to the guests arriving. Every bed is somewhat convertible: upstairs bedroom beds flex from 100 to 180 centimeters. Double beds can be turned into single beds. Et cetera. You wouldn’t believe what a furniture jive I have before your stay. (Sorry if I’m sweaty.)

There is a cradle (to the downstairs bedroom) and a crib (to upstairs bedroom or master bedroom). Plus two extra beds to be placed where ever there is a need.

I want to match all the linen accordingly so the preparations for your stay start, on my behalf, way before you arrive to Lillan.

I appreciate you informing as precise time of arrival as possible because I come personally to welcome you to Lillan. Since I don’t live there I have to make some preparations to be able to match my timetable with yours. And yes, I still want you to be able to come when it suites you best – no fixed o’clock.

I ask for your wishes about services, events, to-dos and to-sees to get all ready for your visit to be as successful as possible. Most of the services require something preliminary to be all set when you arrive.

I want you to rest easy and enjoy your stay at Lillan. That’s why I ask ❤

Joyful illustrations

Rosala Handelsbod has again a wonderful event. This one stays until the end of July: Nähdään majalla (Let’s see at the hut). Talented Sanna Pelliccioni, illustrator and graphic designer, displays her paintings and illustrations for childrens’ books.

Sanna stayed at Lillan during her display arrangements with her two boys. They loved and enjoyed their stay. Well, the feeling is mutual: it was so wonderful to have them as guests at Lillan!

I just love the ideology behind Sanna’s work: she wants to create good and bring joy to the world. She wants to tickle people’s imagination.

img_1279

That ideology suites more than well to Lillan. These colorful, joyful artifacts are both usable and beautiful.

I think the contrast between the simple tableware of Lillan and Sanna’s bubblingly vivid products is just charming.

These linen and kitchenware do really tickle your imagination, don’t you think? And definitely bring you a good mood.

And the colourbooks are just cheery. Had to purchase some to Lillan toy basket (and try them out a bit 🙂 )

img_1283

The bedroom upstairs had the narrow wall that felt somehow deserted and desolate. Well, not anymore!

The imaginary tree with canarian type birds bring the needed sun to the murky corner of that room. You can almost hear them chirping there. Sanna’s biologist background does show.

Better yet, there’s more to come. Can’t wait to see the result of Sanna’s and Lillan’s cooperation ❤

Visited Ruukin Sauna

I had the honor to visit historic, newly renovated Ruukin Sauna this summer, invited by sauna hostess Henna Heinänen. What a true luxury!

The dressing room is roomy and full of light, its high ceiling and old details lovely.

Light and soft hammam towels are ready in line at the old drying line waiting to be wrapped around you.

The shower room is quite explicit. Stone on the wall changes colour as the water hits it, making the room change its outlook. Wonderful waterfall showers give soft, refreshing wash.

And the sauna then! Roomy benches with high level of carpentry. Non-direct light. Stove is the best there is, IKI-stove. Could not get any better than this.

After long sauna it is wonderful to have some glasses of water – or some other refreshments, to that matter.

I am very proud to have Ruukin sauna as cooperation partner to Lillan!
